Improving Water Infrastructure for a Growing Community
ESI was tapped to perform multiple scopes of work at Nampa’s water/wastewater plant through two phases of major construction and upgrades to the facilities and systems on site. In the first phase, ESI constructed two new digesters, self-performing the installation of 306,000 lbs of reinforcing steel on the clarifier tanks. ESI also self-performed the tanks’ foundation and walls that measure 34 feet tall and 70 feet in diameter.
The second phase also consisted of new construction and major upgrades. This work included extensive site and structural concrete at the processing building, a new multilevel solid handling facility equipped with centrifuges, polymer handling, new dewatering feed pumps, final clarifier scum pump replacements, plant drain pump stations, and a concentrate storage tank. Sitework includes civil grading and roadways.
Upgrading Recycled Water and Processing Systems
ESI served as the general subcontractor to Design-Builder Jacobs Engineering Group for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Recycled Water Improvements project. The project team led the construction of upgrades to the plant electrical system, which included temporary construction power, a new medium voltage loop, and electrical tie-ins to new treatment process areas associated with the recycled water improvements.
ESI also built the Solids Handling Building in this phase, including sidestream treatment, improvements within the Solids Handling Building and RAS/WAS Pumping Station, and an emergency generator. Again, ESI self-performed all associated concrete and reinforcing work for the Solids Handling Building.
All of this work was performed and delivered without disruptions to WWTP operations. These projects were significant investments and dramatically improved the quality and efficient use of public resources while enhancing environmental protections.
